The global telecommunications group Orange decided to provide its 180,000+ employees in the world a new open communication space where they would be able to discuss on any subject – professional or private – and create communities. This space had to be intuitive and user-friendly, inspired by consumer social networks. The ultimate goal was to build a network of trust, where people would participate voluntarily.
Through an RFP, SharePoint 2010 was selected as the platform to support this new enterprise social network, baptized “PLAZZA”. However, some additional features were necessary to bring the professionally-oriented social collaboration features the company needed. Calinda Software’s solution SocialFactor was selected for its ability to bring professional conversation feeds, to integrate multimedia contents in the discussions, to build visual maps of exchanges and to seamlessly integrate e-mail and mobile communications into the social conversation streams.
The social network was quickly adopted by the workforce, with more than 38,000 active users of all ages, 1,700 communities created and used from 62 countries! Thanks to SocialFactor, the business performance of this platform went up 75%, with more than 80% of communities now created around a professional objective.
Now after 2 years, SocialFactor conversations have become the backbone of the Plazza social network, and fuel interactions across the Orange group around the world!
Calinda Software's compatibility with Outlook was a key factor for the group's Direction of Innovation to choose the solution. As a result, it integrates easily in the collaboration processes of our employees.
